Portable Sawmill / Milling Services
In keeping with our ongoing efforts to minimize our waste stream by recycling
and re-using as much of the byproducts of our work as possible, Limber Tree
Services now offers the ability to mill logs on-site. Our TimberKing 1600 mill
can saw logs up to 3 feet in diameter and up to 16' 6" long.
Maximum Lumber per Log - The thin blade on this super-efficient machine results in minimal kerf waste, thereby yielding more boards per log than conventional sawmills.
Reduced Fuel Use - The thin blade also means the mill has to use less fuel to cut each log than a conventional mill. In addition, by milling logs on-site, no fossil fuel is used to transport the logs to an off-site mill or disposal site.
We can also transport individual logs to our yard and mill them here.
Environmental Benefits of the Portable Mill
No Waste - Once the lumber has been cut, the remaining slabs are either chipped or cut for firewood. Sawdust and wood chips are further converted to mulch or composted back to soil. Nothing needs to be disposed of in a landfill.Maximum Lumber per Log - The thin blade on this super-efficient machine results in minimal kerf waste, thereby yielding more boards per log than conventional sawmills.

Economic Benefits of the Portable Mill
Supporting the Local Economy - Turning logs into lumber maximizes a local resource and employs local residents. Most lumber one can buy is milled hundreds of miles away. Many of the logs harvested in the Catskills are shipped to these far away mills and, ironically, then shipped back to our region as lumber. Why not keep those funds and jobs in the local economy instead of paying them out to the trucking, petroleum and distant milling operations?Milling Details

Milling rates vary based upon the following factors:- location of the job (travel time is billed)
- how the logs are staged when the mill arrives (scattered, or staged in a straight row)
- what type of wood is being milled (wood hardness affects the mill's cutting speed)
- what dimensions of lumber we are to mill (beams, framing lumber, siding, custom cuts for furniture or sculpture, etc.)
We can also transport individual logs to our yard and mill them here.
